What is graphic equalizer ?.. and necessity

What is graphic equalizer? And its necessity.

  • Graphic equalizer is a type of tone control in which audio spectrum is segmented into narrow band. Each band has individual slider control which can boost (Pre-emphasis) or cut(De-emphasis) the signal from +15dB to -15dB. Necessity
  • In sound recording system the low power frequency signals should be emphasis before recording. So that this signals are curried to much higher power level compared to noise level this will improve the signal to noise ratio.(i.e. The graphic equalizer necessary for the signal to noise ratio.)
  •  Emphasis/Boosting low intensity sound signal before recording is called Pre-emphasis.
  •  At the receiving or playback end boosted signals are bring back to their original levels. The process of cutting/de-emphasing the boosted signal at the receiving end is called de-emphasis.
  • The process of pre-emphasis at the recording and de-emphasis at the receiving is called equalizing.
  • To perform the process of equalization graphic equalizer is necessary.
  •  Graphic equalizer is necessary.
  • Graphic equalizer is used to eliminate unwanted peak in response of audio system.
